  • The Immersive Intelligence Summer Program empowers high school students to explore the frontiers of artificial intelligence and mixed reality. Participants gain both technical and creative skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and collaboration, students work with peers from diverse backgrounds, learning to connect technology with design, storytelling, and human-centered innovation. Hosted at UIUC, a hub of research and innovation, the program offers a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge labs, engage with university faculty, and contribute fresh ideas to the future of intelligent immersive technologies.

  • Featured Speakers

    Dr. Leon Liebenberg, Teaching Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, integrates over 32 years of expertise in engineering education, research, and innovation. As Associate Director of the Master of Engineering in Energy Systems program, he advances interdisciplinary learning while leading research on energy systems, biomedical engineering, and pedagogical innovation. Passionate about teaching, he founded the ENGINE program to enhance student engagement and co-established an international sustainability competition, inspiring future engineers globally.

    Dr. Deana McDonagh, a Professor of Industrial Design at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Health Innovation Professor at Carle Illinois College of Medicine, founded the (dis)Ability Design Studio in 2022. As an expert in empathic design, she focuses on creating intuitive, meaningful products that enhance quality of life by addressing both functional and emotional user needs.

    Rachel Switzky is the inaugural director of the Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she leads efforts to teach and apply human-centered design. A former Executive Director at IDEO, she spent two decades helping Fortune 100 companies innovate through design thinking, focusing on digital design, emerging technologies, and large-scale impact.

    Dr. Philbert Chen, MD, specializes in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his MD at New York Medical College and residency in Internal Medicine at Homewood Hospital Center, affiliated with Johns Hopkins. His medical interests include Health and Productivity Management, and he is an active member of multiple professional societies, including the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine.

    Marisa Peacock is a senior lecturer in the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She teaches courses like the Sandage Project and Digital Content Management while leading the Sandage Social Media Lab, where students gain hands-on experience. As the founder of The Strategic Peacock, she helps organizations develop social media strategies and is pursuing an MFA in Design for Responsible Innovation, focusing on inclusive design in advertising education.
